The Ultimate Editing Prompt For Copywriters
Pick your AI below and follow the steps. Two minutes to set up, then just say "EDITH:" and go.
Claude — recommended
- Download the
edith.mdfile below. - Open claude.ai and start a new chat.
- Upload the file and tell Claude: "Make this a skill."
- That's it. Any time you want EDITH, start your message with
EDITH:followed by your copy.
Claude is the only LLM where EDITH runs as a persistent skill — you don't have to re-upload every session.
ChatGPT
ChatGPT doesn't support file-based skills, but you can load EDITH into memory using a prompt. Paste this into a new chat:
- Download the file below.
- Open a new ChatGPT chat.
- Paste the prompt above, then upload the file.
- Say
EDITH:any time you want editing mode.
ChatGPT memory won't store all of EDITH's instructions — the file upload is what carries the full behavior. You'll need to re-upload in each new conversation unless you use a custom GPT.
Grok
Grok has two useful features: Custom Instructions and Memory. Use Custom Instructions to load EDITH once and keep it active.
- Download the file below.
- Go to grok.com → Settings → Custom Instructions.
- Paste the prompt below into the custom instructions field.
- Upload
edith.mdto your first EDITH chat so Grok has the full context. - From then on, say
EDITH:to activate it.
Grok's memory feature will reinforce EDITH's context over time as you use it, but the custom instructions field is where the base behavior lives. Note: memory is not available in EU/UK regions.
Other LLMs
Using Gemini, Mistral, Perplexity, or something else? Here's how to think about it:
- Check if your chatbot has memory or custom instructions. Most do now. If it does, paste the ChatGPT prompt above into that field — it works the same way.
- If it doesn't have memory, download the file and upload it at the start of every chat where you want EDITH. It's a small file — takes two seconds.
- Either way, say
EDITH:to trigger it.
If you're going to use EDITH often then I really recommend using Claude for it. It's the only one where EDITH runs exactly as designed without re-uploading or prompting every time. The skill setup takes two minutes.
