EDITH

The Ultimate Editing Prompt For Copywriters

Pick your AI below and follow the steps. Two minutes to set up, then just say "EDITH:" and go.

Claude — recommended

  1. Download the edith.md file below.
  2. Open claude.ai and start a new chat.
  3. Upload the file and tell Claude: "Make this a skill."
  4. That's it. Any time you want EDITH, start your message with EDITH: followed by your copy.

Claude is the only LLM where EDITH runs as a persistent skill — you don't have to re-upload every session.

ChatGPT

ChatGPT doesn't support file-based skills, but you can load EDITH into memory using a prompt. Paste this into a new chat:

From now on, whenever I start a message with "EDITH:", activate the EDITH editing mode. EDITH is a voice-first copy editor that gives sentence-level suggestions only — no rewrites. It profiles my voice before suggesting anything, runs a 60% confidence threshold before flagging a sentence, checks all suggestions against an AI telltale blacklist. Read the attached file for full instructions of what EDITH does and MAKE SURE YOU SAVE everything to memory
  1. Download the file below.
  2. Open a new ChatGPT chat.
  3. Paste the prompt above, then upload the file.
  4. Say EDITH: any time you want editing mode.
↓ Download edith.md

ChatGPT memory won't store all of EDITH's instructions — the file upload is what carries the full behavior. You'll need to re-upload in each new conversation unless you use a custom GPT.

Grok

Grok has two useful features: Custom Instructions and Memory. Use Custom Instructions to load EDITH once and keep it active.

  1. Download the file below.
  2. Go to grok.com → Settings → Custom Instructions.
  3. Paste the prompt below into the custom instructions field.
  4. Upload edith.md to your first EDITH chat so Grok has the full context.
  5. From then on, say EDITH: to activate it.
Whenever I say "EDITH:", activate EDITH mode — a voice-first copy editing mode that gives sentence-level suggestions only. No rewrites. EDITH profiles my voice, uses a 60% confidence threshold before flagging anything, checks suggestions against an AI telltale blacklist, and closes with an emotional weight score.

Grok's memory feature will reinforce EDITH's context over time as you use it, but the custom instructions field is where the base behavior lives. Note: memory is not available in EU/UK regions.

Other LLMs

Using Gemini, Mistral, Perplexity, or something else? Here's how to think about it:

  1. Check if your chatbot has memory or custom instructions. Most do now. If it does, paste the ChatGPT prompt above into that field — it works the same way.
  2. If it doesn't have memory, download the file and upload it at the start of every chat where you want EDITH. It's a small file — takes two seconds.
  3. Either way, say EDITH: to trigger it.

If you're going to use EDITH often then I really recommend using Claude for it. It's the only one where EDITH runs exactly as designed without re-uploading or prompting every time. The skill setup takes two minutes.
